The MIDI pack that comes with Metal Foundry also happens to be fantastic. As you can hear the cymbals are definitely still good but they took quite a lot of work compared to Metal Foundry's cymbals, which are practically good to go out of the box. There are some good Combined Presets from good producers in the box when you buy Superior but to be honest it was made to be mixed properly in your DAW, not in Superiors own mixer. I do however tend to replace the shells with samples I enjoy more and that aren't used quite as often in the metal community which often leads me to use Metal Foundry.Īs for a good sound right out of the box, the goal of Superior Drummer is to basically give you access to exactly what was recorded, meaning there will be flaws and imperfections which need to be adressed.

After owning and using both for several years I've come to the conclusion that I really like the cymbals in Metal Foundry and the shells in Metal Machinery.
